Privacy policy

This policy explains how Kasey Labs handles visitor information on kaseylabs.app and its subdomains, and in the iPhone apps provided by Kasey Labs. The information handled differs by app, so please check the section for the app you use.

1. What the apps handle

Piano audio is processed on your device. Kasey Voice stores range, tempo and practice preferences in your browser. It currently collects no microphone input or recordings.

Optional Google sign-in uses Firebase Authentication. Account identifiers, email addresses, email verification status and profile information provided by Google are processed for authentication. Invited email addresses, invitation status and update timestamps are stored in Cloud Firestore to determine ad-free access. Sign-in state is also stored in your browser. We do not use this information for advertising targeting.

Account and invitation information is retained while needed for service access and invitation management. Contact us below to request deletion. Signing out alone does not delete server-side records. See Firebase privacy information for details of Google’s data processing.

1-1. Kasey Invoice (document maker)

Kasey Invoice works without logging in. If you do not log in, the documents, customers, products, company details and seal image you enter are stored only in your browser and are never sent to our servers.

Only if you log in with your email address, we also store the following on our server (Cloudflare D1) and sync it between your devices: your email address (used to send the login link and verify you; login emails are sent through Resend), and the contents of your documents, customers, products, bank accounts, company details and seal image (including names, addresses, amounts and bank details you enter), plus a session identifier (cookie). We use this only to provide syncing, not for advertising. You can delete the server-side data at any time from the app (Other → Delete account); data on your device is not deleted. Logging out alone does not delete it. We do not share it with third parties except where required by law.

1-1-2. Kasey Hangul (Korean learning)

Kasey Hangul works without signing in. If you don't sign in, your study records (cards answered, review schedule, streak) stay in your browser on your device and are never sent to our server. Voice recordings for pronunciation practice are played back on your device only. If you use "check if it's understood", your browser's speech recognition may send the audio to the browser vendor's servers (for example, Google in Chrome).

Only if you sign in with your email address, we also store the following on our server (Cloudflare D1) to sync between your devices: your email address (used to send sign-in links via Resend, Inc.; there is no password), your study records (used only for syncing, never for ad targeting), and a session identifier (cookie) with its expiry. You can delete everything on the server at any time from "記録" → "アカウントを削除する" in the app; data on your device is kept. Signing out alone does not delete it.

1-1-3. Bandman Quiz

Bandman Quiz (bandman.kaseylabs.app) creates a just-for-fun result from an X (Twitter) username you enter. There is no sign-in.

Results are fictional and have nothing to do with the real person or any real band. If you would like a stored illustration deleted, please contact us using the details below.

1-2. Apps that use an account

Apps where you register with an email address and connect with friends handle the following information.

This information is stored and processed with Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging), and notifications are delivered through Apple's notification service. We do not use it for advertising targeting and do not share it with third parties except where required by law. You can delete your account at any time from the app's settings; your profile and posts are then subject to deletion (contact us for details, including exchanges that may remain visible to others).

Kasey Clip

When you load an X post in Kasey Clip, your browser or the app sends the post ID to the third-party FxTwitter API to retrieve the public post, thread, or article. Images are loaded from X’s image host (pbs.twimg.com). Those services may process connection information such as your IP address. Neither the Kasey Clip web app nor the iPhone app stores the entered URL or retrieved posts on our server; everything is handled on-device (in your browser, or in the app). The iPhone app’s Share Extension briefly places a URL received from X’s share menu into storage shared between the app and extension (an App Group), which the main app then reads.

2. Advertising

This site uses Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service.

See Google's advertising policies for details. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are shown a consent message about the use of cookies.

2-2. Ads and purchases in the iPhone apps

The free version of the iPhone apps that have one (Kasey Keys, Kasey Clip) shows one small banner ad at the top of the screen through Google AdMob. Neither app shows video or full-screen ads. Each app offers a one-time "Pro" purchase (¥300) that removes the ad.

In-app purchases (Pro) are processed and paid through Apple; we never receive your card details. What you play and your MIDI keyboard input never leave your device.

3. Access information

This site is delivered through Cloudflare. For delivery and security, information such as your IP address, browser type and access time may be processed automatically by Cloudflare. Pages using Cloudflare Web Analytics collect aggregate page-view and performance information without cookies.

4. Information from enquiries

Email addresses and other details you send us are used only to reply, and are not shared with third parties except where required by law.

5. Changes

This policy may be updated when needed. Changes take effect when posted on this page.
